When guys get together, it can get brutal. Conversations get raunchy and nasty. It is said that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. This was also true for camping in Door County.
Well, here’s my perspective…
These cassette tapes are decades old. The people we all were back then, simply don’t exist anymore. It was a different time, a different world and we were all young, naive and very different from the people we have all become as adults.
With that said, I want to warn you that the things that get said on this track, should probably remain in Vegas. However, I believe that enough time has gone by, that it should be okay to listen to the people we were as kids, maybe have a laugh.
Anyway, as I listen to these tapes from this year 1986, I am reminded how much it used to rain when we’d go camping in Door County. Some years would be a total washout. 1988 was like that. It rained the entire trip.
We ate a lot of junk food back then. Macaroni and cheese, pizza pockets, hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. It was abundantly clear that eating healthy food, was not a factor in camping. Nobody was walking around eating rabbit food. It just wasn’t a thing back then.
We had the annual tradition where on the very last day of the trip, we’d all go into town and spend the remainder of the kitty money on the fixings for a huge meal. This meal included steaks, baked potatoes and garlic bread all cooked on the grill. We ate like Kings.
